It feels like just a few weeks ago we were starting the year. Fast forward to today and we are more than halfway through 2021 in prime summertime. This means the Fourth of July is here and we’re here to celebrate! In case you’re wondering where to celebrate 4th of July in Chicago, we have a few good options for you to consider. Whether you’re looking for places to watch fireworks, picnic during the daytime, or take part in local Chicago activities, there’s always something fun going on close to home! Let us help you plan out your holiday and have some fun in the sun!
Kicking off the Day at The Riverwalk
A good way to begin your day is to walk down the Chicago Riverwalk and take in some beautiful city views. There are tons of restaurants for you to enjoy a nice meal with a drink to get energized for the day. Some of our favorite spots include Chicago Brewhouse and Pizzeria Portofino. Grab a seat at the riverfront terrace and enjoy the city breeze. Once you’ve fueled up, make your way to the beachfront and soak in the sun with friends. Don’t forget to bring some snacks, a frisbee, and your swimming gear in case you want to cool off in the water!
Cruises and Water Sports at Lake Michigan
Kick back as you sail down the Chicago Riverwalk on a Fourth of July Boat Cruise. Whether you’re in the mood to dance with your friends, have a nice dinner with an open bar, or simply take in the city’s gorgeous architecture, there’s a perfect cruise for you. Visit City Experiences and you’ll find a magnitude of unforgettable Fourth of July experiences. Another great resource, for those feeling a little more adventurous, is Urban Kayak. Here you’ll be able to rent kayaks for you to paddle down the Chicago Riverwalk or Lake Michigan. Interested in Jet Skis? Check out Chicago Water Sport Rentals as well!
End the Day With Fireworks
Once you’ve had enough time out in the warm July sun, keep the tradition going and make your way over to watch some fireworks. The closest place to Aqua at Lakeshore East where you’ll be able to enjoy lights in the sky is Soldier Field, the Chicago Fire’s Stadium. If you’re up for a drive, you’ll find more events in the outskirts of Chicago including Lake Forest, Mount Prospect, and Naperville. Some of these events are even hosting rides, games, and live music!
There is no shortage of things to do in Chicago this upcoming weekend. Whether you want to kick back and relax at the beach, have some dinner down the riverwalk, or go out to a carnival to watch some fireworks, there is something for everyone to do. We hope you have a great 4th of July celebration. Happy Independence Day, America!
