With summer coming to an end, it’s time to hit the road while you still can! Sometimes changing the environment you’re in every day can feel recharging, so if you’re wondering where to go these next few weeks, keep reading below. There will definitely be some inspiring locations you’ll want to bookmark for your future getaways, these are just a few that we love that Thrillest mentioned in one of their blogs.
If you’re wanting to leave Illinois, we really aren’t that far from Wisconsin at all! Dells of the Wisconsin River is actually just a 4-hour drive from Chicago and is full of a ton of outdoor adventure for you and your family. This area was formed over 500-million years ago and has cliffs, wildlife, and more. From water parks to boat tours, you will definitely be able to make countless new memories in nature.
A trip that everyone who lives in Windy City has to experience at least once is making the 2-hour drive out to Starved Rock State Park. This was voted the #1 attraction in all of Illinois and the Illinois River offers fishing, boating, and can definitely help you set into relaxation. If you’d rather stay on land, you’re in luck. We suggest taking a trip to the waterfall and checking out the rock formations since they have been formed for millions of years. There are also free guided hikes offered until November, just make sure to be ready at 9 AM to start your venture.
If you’re more of a city folk looking to explore a different city, make the 2.5 hours to Madison, Wisconsin! You can take time to clear your mind at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, partake in a ghost tour in honor of Spooky Season on the horizon, and if you plan accordingly, join a tailgate and experience a football game at the University of Wisconsin! To check out more experiences in Madison, check out Tripadvisor for some more suggestions!
So the real question is: are you down for a road trip? Share a few of your favorite locations with your friends to see if they are down to make the drive with you!
