Sometimes you need to switch your Saturday evening up and try a new bar out! Lucky for the folks that live in Windy City, there are quite a few unique bars to visit, specifically speakeasies.
Now, what is a speakeasy? According to Merriam-Webster, it is a place where alcoholic beverages are illegally sold. Are we promoting illegal activity? Absolutely not! There are actually no true speakeasies anymore, as they were illegal bars back in the day when drinking was illegal. Still, there are many that will give you a taste of what it feels like to walk into an illicit drinking den, and some of them still have discreet entrances. 🚪
Dorian’s is a record store by day and a speakeasy bar through one of their rooms by night. Just enter the shop as you would normally, but make your way through the listening booth to experience all that they have to offer! We suggest one of their house cocktails for sharing and a cheese plate to snack on. If you plan accordingly, you should try to attend one of their live performances or vinyl DJ sets. 💿
Each night at The Bassment you will find live music and craft cocktails. This speakeasy lounge requires reservations in advance as well as business attire, so ditch those sports jerseys and sandals for a night to be able to enjoy your night! From supporting local bands to ordering their special Dua Lipa cocktail, you’re sure to be leaving with the best of memories.
Another speakeasy to check out when it’s rainy would be Three Dots and a Dash, a tropical bar and craft cocktail destination hidden below the streets of River North. Their cocktails use the freshest Exotic fruits, distilled spirits, cold-pressed juices, and elixirs. We’d also like to add that this speakeasy was named one of The World’s 50 Best Bars by Drinks International, so make your reservation now to see what all the hype is about!
