Looking for a new spot to treat yourself to the best of the best when it comes to seafood? Or maybe you still need to make that reservation for Valentine’s Day right around the corner? Lucky for us residents in Chicago, Illinois, RPM Seafood is a brand new restaurant that sits right on the water's edge of the Chicago River. This multi-level experience brings customers the world’s best fish right to their plate. This is not the RPM”s team's first venture into the Chicago restaurant world, but it is their first try at the waterfront scene.
The Team
Thought up by the brilliant team at RPM, this group of restaurants continues to shine bright among the rest and bring food enthusiasts quality ingredients and exceptional service. Striving to provide their guests with a dining experience unlike any other, their two current Chicago locations, RPM Steak and RPM Italian are outstanding examples of crowd-pleasers.
The people behind the brand are Bill and Giuliana Rancic television’s personality power couple, and siblings R.J., Jerrod, and Molly Melman. When combined together, these five individuals come together in the restaurant world to bring customers an elegant dining experience they are sure to never forget. They also have RPM events and RPM catering under their belt as well so if you are looking to host a private event, they can help you throw the party with the best food.
The Menu
Starting off with drinks, we recommend trying one of their signature cocktails. “Crystal Paloma” created with Libélula Tequila, clarified grapefruit juice, citrus soda, grapefruit, and salt and the one we think would go best with any menu item.
Before you start the main course, you must start with a seafood tower. Combing prawns, Maine lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, and East and West coast oysters, it is pure tastiness. No for the main course, trust us when we say everything is good. Yes, it is a seafood restaurant but that doesn't mean anything that isn't seafood on the menu will be lackluster. You can expect nothing but the best from RPM Seafood. We personally would go for the Grilled King Crab with a butter garlic and curry aioli, or the Spanish Branzino served with olive oil, tomatoes, and lemon salt.
Finishing it off with dessert, their creme brulee with citrus granita and candied pistachio has been called the best creme brulee some people have ever had. If creme brulee is not your style, the Peanut Butter Pie with a chocolate crust is also wonderful.
The Location
Located right on the waterfront of the Chicago River, we can not say enough good things about the location of this eatery. Not to mention it is only a 5 minutes drive away from us here at Aqua at Lakeshore East! Elevating two full floors of over 200 seats for guests to enjoy views of the river, the restaurant itself is massive. With floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river, the cold Chicago winds stay out, while the warmth and good conversations stay flowing inside. You can start on the lower level at the lively cocktail bar before finding your seat upstairs in the more romantic and intimate atmosphere.
