Pet ownership can take your outdoor plans from good to great! With summer just around the corner, we can't help but have our minds wander off and dream about all of the new memories we'll be making under the sun. From ice-cold cocktails enjoyed on patios, picnics at the park, and casual strolls around Windy City, we are ready to get this season started. The only thing that would make this the most epic summer of all summers is a (hu)man's best friend. 🐾

That's right - according to HelpGuide, a small independent nonprofit that runs one of the world’s top 10 mental health websites, it was found that dogs and cats can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. These furry friends not only help ease loneliness, but they also subconsciously encourage their owners to participate in more activity and playfulness. If you are ready to become a pet parent, there are quite a few shelters you can visit in Chicago to make your dreams a reality.
For instance, The Anti-Cruelty Society is just an 11-minute drive from our community, and they are offering waived adoption fees now through June 5th for dogs over 40 pounds. Nothing is better than ending your busy day cuddling a happy big fur ball. This comprehensive animal welfare organization first began in 1899, and has since helped over 4,800 animals be adopted, placed over 1,300 animals in foster care, and has helped serve over 700,000 meals to animals in need!
