How To Make Your Own Bread

|

Did you know that the average loaf of bread that’s bought from the store contain ingredients that you may never heard of, similar to other processed foods? The contents within processed bread surprisingly “often includes a long list of toxic ingredients” according to Natural Savvy. Some of these common ingredients include “high-fructose corn syrup”, and even “many hidden ingredients that consumers don’t get to see since they are not clearly identified on food labels.” If you’re wanting to try to make your own bread, consider trying this recipe out!

Three Ingredient Bread Recipe

If you love artisan bread, you may love making your own loaf as much as you enjoy eating it! All you’ll need are:

  • 3 cups (395 grams) all-purpose flour , or bread flour
  • ½ Tablespoon Kosher salt
  • ¼ ounce instant or active dry yeast packet , or 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • 1 ½ cups warm water , 105° (not listed as an ingredient since you shouldn’t need to be this)

This no-knead artisan bread recipe was designed by Jamielyn Nye, a cookbook author, creative director, and the founder from I Heart Naptime. This recipe only takes 5 minutes to prep, and the first thing you’ll want to start with is by making the dough. After mixing all of the ingredients together, you’ll want to make sure the texture is sticky. Next, cover the dough and let it rise. This should take about 2 to 3 hours minimum, but the longer you allow it to rise the better. After it’s risen and you’re ready to bake it, pat some flour on your hands and toss some on a surface. Next, place your dough on the floured surface and begin to punch it down. Once it’s shaped to your liking, sprinkle some more flour on top and slice a few lines on the top. Next, grab some parchment paper, sprinkle some more flour on top of that, place your dough on top, and let it rest for 20 - 30 minutes. Then set your oven to 450° F, place a tray that performs well in a hot surface, like an iron skillet, and let it stay there for 20 minutes so that tray starts to heat up. Next, grab your dough on the parchment paper and place it on top of the iron skillet,  place 5 ice cubes at the bottom of the oven, and quickly close the oven door to trap the steam. Finally, in about 25 minutes your bread should be done!
