Chicago is a beautiful city, and it's only better during December when it becomes a total winter wonderland. Kick-off the holiday season with beautiful light displays, hot cocoa, and more! We could all use some extra holiday cheer this year. Read on to see what activities and attractions are happening this year in Chicago near Aqua Lakeshore East.
Jack Frost Winter Village
You might remember Jack's Pumpkin Pop-Up that was a crazy success this year! For the Christmas season, the same folks are holding a Jack Frost Winter Village pop-up event. This 2-acre attraction is just 10 minutes away from Aqua, with a Christmas tree farm, photo ops, and cheery Christmas lights everywhere. This outdoor event will go on from December 5th until January 10th. Tickets are available online, and includes Jack's Winter Walk and a Christmas Doughnut!
Virtual Christkindlmarket
This virtual event is typically a big outdoor market. This year the event has been re-imagined as a virtual bazaar due to current events. So put on your comfiest clothes and cozy up at home with your laptop for some online shopping! It's 2020, online shopping counts as an event now, bear with us. This market is a wonderful way to shop small and support local artisans and businesses. You can find wonderful deals on local goods, holiday treats, German-themed food and mugs, and a live streaming of the Christkind Story Time every Saturday until December 24th. The virtual market itself is open all day since it's online, and you can make peruse their platform through December 31st.
Zoo Lights
This one is a family favorite, as well as the perfect winter date night. The Zoo Lights event is just $5 for entry, and will be open until January 3rd. You can purchase a regular ZooLights ticket, or score the adults-only tickets for a stroll around the zoo complete with mulled wine. Enjoy dazzling light displays, snap some holiday photos, and enjoy a tribute concert from the Chris White Trio covering A Charlie Brown Christmas.
