If you’re wanting to take your apartment home to the next level, add some color and life to your space! Want to know a simple way to do just that? By adding a fresh bouquet of flowers. 💐If the cost of flower arrangements makes you stress out, keep in mind there are other ways to get your hands on your dream bouquet that don’t require calling a florist. If you’re up for a new DIY project, this is for you!
What to Look For
According to Master Class, 3 tips to focus on while designing your own arrangement include: sticking to a color scheme, using in-season flowers, and choosing strong, hearty flowers. When choosing a color scheme, it wouldn’t hurt to choose a few colors that compliment the interior of your home here at Aqua at Lakeshore East! Some summer flowers that should be easy for you to find include gardenias, orchids, dahlias, cosmos, and so much more. Some great local shops to purchase flowers from include Trader Joe’s, Vons, and Home Depot. While you’re there, grab some flower food to give your bouquet that extra boost!
What Do I Do Next?
After you have all of your flowers picked, try to stop and grab some greenery as fillers while you can. This will add extra texture and will help your bouquet look more natural, or even look as if you hand-picked each item. Once you make your way home, clear off a table to get started. Cut each stem at an angle with a sharp pair of scissors or garden shears to help the flowers absorb more water and last longer. You might want to cut off any thorns as well to prevent any future pokes. After, place the newly cut item into the vase and test out the height to see if you like it! If you want a more sophisticated look, we suggest having the height be somewhere in the middle of tall and short. You can even cut each flower at different heights to add some dimension.
Once you have them styled in your vase in a way that makes you happy, that’s it! Seems pretty straightforward, right? Tag us in your future posts of your bouquets so we can admire your creations ourselves! We would love to see what our creative residents come up with! 🌼
