An Update on Local Coffee Chain: Dollop Coffee Co.

|

We recently introduced you to a local coffee empire here in Chicago, Illinois called Dollop Coffee Co. Across all 14 locations in the Windy City, Dollop has hundreds of employees that report to work each and every day ready to serve coffee and pastries to the people of Chicago. Whether it be in lincoln square, the south loop, or river north, these barista's show up ready to serve up delicious iced coffee.

Unfortunately, due to the rapidly changing and uncertain times that have swept through the nation, and the world, Dollop Coffee Co. has chosen to close its doors at all 14 locations. To keep its employees and customers safe, and in following the guidance from the City of Chicago, CEO Dan Weiss has closed all coffee shops for the time being.

The statement on their website reads;

“Dear Friends and Family,

Based on city-mandated rules and common sense, Dollop will close our coffee shops for an unknown amount of time to help flatten the curve of the Coronavirus Pandemic. I will not be asking or telling our employees to work in our retail shops during this time, because I want to do our part in slowing the spread of the virus…and in turn, helping our healthcare system keep pace in the treatment of truly sick people.

Our company will take a big hit. It is what it is, I will find a way forward…”

Weiss continues on to note the overall pride behind Dollop Coffee Co., is the team, and he knows this will impact the team, more than him personally. In this trying time, Weiss has decided to rally behind his team and make the retail price for Dollop bags of coffee $15. All profits made from the sale of coffee from their website will be going directly to the employees.

Weiss notes;

“We will try this for the next 2 weeks and see if we can raise money to help with the uncertainty of when we will re-open. It’s the least that I can do because, without them, this company is nothing. If we are to be closed longer than 2 weeks we will run this longer.

Maybe this will help you all as well, coffee delivered to you will be one less worry. You still need coffee – even if you have stupid Coronavirus."

If you can help the good working human at Dollop Coffee Co. and wish to support them, you can buy bags of coffee from their website. To read the entire letter from Dan Weiss, click here

Thank you to the good people of Chicago who are out there fighting the good fight, and to those of you who are staying home and doing your part. We will get through this together.
