Fall Pumpkin Fun Around Chicago

  |     |   Events, Outdoor Activities

While most people associate pumpkins with October, now that we are into September, most pumpkin patches are up and running full swing! While you could pick one up at the store, it’s much more fun to get your own at a pumpkin patch. It’s even more fun when you can get lost in a corn maze and take a hayride. If you’re looking to get out of the city for some Midwestern fall fun, here are our favorite pumpkin patches near Chicago.

Bengston's Pumpkin Farm

Head to Homer Glen for Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest. You won’t want to miss this festival known for its incredible cider doughnuts and award-winning barbecue. There are tons of activities, including rides, a petting zoo with llamas and kangaroos, pig races, a roller coaster, and a mining sluice. You can even ride a pony and learn how to milk a cow.

Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch and Farm

Goebbert’s has two locations with fall festivals. The South Barrington location has been hosting this seasonal party since 1978. Both offer hayrides and pig races, and you can even feed a giraffe. Their other location is in Hampshire, which is about an hour from downtown Chicago.

Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch

If you’re up for a trip to Indiana, then you’ll want to visit the Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch in Lowell. At this family-owned farm you can pick your own pumpkin, or they’ll pick one for you. This is one of the few pumpkin patches that offers free admission, although you will pay a fee for the corn maze, pony rides, and some attractions like rides and even hot air balloon rides. Plus meet your favorite characters from Tee Wizard of Oz!  If you want to make a day of it, you can get an unlimited fun pass for $18.

Siegel's Cottonwood Farm

Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm is a place you could spend all day. With over thirty attractions, they’ve got enough things to do to keep you busy from open to close. They’re known for their immense corn mazes, which change every season. Grab a tasty meal, explore a beehive, ride some rides, and have an amazing time!

This fall, head a bit out of town to take advantage of the fabulous fall fun around the Chicagoland area!
